Spetses is a summation of artistic identities embodied by Shingo Nishioka.
Sai Shiroyama – Writing and solitary photography
Under the name Sai Shiroyama, he pursues solitary creative activities. As a writer, Sai explores art, language, and beauty – currently preparing a manuscript that examines how language invites us to appreciate beauty. Under this name, he also engages chiefly in nature photography, with a particular focus on capturing scenes that convey a sense of tranquility.
Shingo Nishioka – Portrait photography
In the realm of portrait photography, he uses his legal name Shingo Nishioka. Based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and previously active in Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom, Shingo’s primary interest lies in elegance – where every thing is a matter of choice. The photographer is then required to make a number of spontaneous decisions as to what ‘works’ and what does not. The main question is how to ascertain overall harmony within the frame, which bespeaks the sitter.
